RT HON. SERGIUS OGUN HAILS SUPREME COURT VERDICT, CONGRATULATES OBASEKI, SHAIBU, PDP
The honourable member representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency of Edo State in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. ( Barr.) Deacon Sergius Oseasochie Ogun has commended the justices of the Supreme Court for dismissing the alleged certificate forgery suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu against Gov. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, winner of the September 19, 2020 governorship poll.
The Supreme Court in its judgement delivered today dismissed the appeal filed by APC challenging the qualification of Gov. Obaseki. A panel of the apex court held that the appellants failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt. The court added that the appellants failed woefully to prove their case as they did not provide any disclaimer from the school that the certificate whose authenticity they challenged, was not issued to Obaseki by the institution.
While reacting to the Supreme Court verdict, the Òluese nomioguele of Esan Land described it as the pleasant end of a long and tedious legal journey from the lower courts to the apex court even as he extended his hearty congratulations to Gov. Obaseki, his deputy, Rt Hon. Comrade Phillip Shaibu and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the sweet victory!
On the strength of the finality of the incontrovertible verdict, Rt Hon. Ogun admonished leaders and members of Edo APC to part with the bitter politics of the past and join forces with Gov. Obaseki to make Edo great again.
