The Honourable Member representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. (Barr.) Deacon Sergius Oseasochie Ogun through his foundation, Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation, has commenced the distribution of free notebooks to pupils/ students of both public and private nursery/primary/secondary schools in Esan North-East and Esan South-East Local Government Areas of Edo State.

Members of the foundation visited many schools in the aforementioned LGAs in the old Agbazilo and they presented five notebooks to every pupil/student who turned up for the new academic session on the first day of resumption. In all the schools visited, they were warmly received by teachers and pupils/students who showered encomiums on the foundation’s president, Rt Hon. Ogun for the kind gesture.

Today’s excercise is by no means a one-off event as it is evidently and indisputably on record that the foundation donates free notebooks to indigent pupils/students at the beginning of every academic session. The scheme has been on since the inception of the foundation in 2007, long before the founder sought and got the mandate to represent the good people of Agbazilo in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

Rt. Hon. Ogun is a lover of education and staunch advocate of academic excellence. This possibly explains why the foundation provides free NECO/SSCE enrollment fees to six hundred final year secondary school students and offers automatic university scholarship to six deserving scholars on a yearly basis without fail. The foundation also rewards the best graduating Esan ND and HND students in Auchi Polytechnic at the end of every academic session.

The distribution of free notebooks to indigent pupils/students is expected to continue tomorrow.
