The statement signed on Friday by the palace secretary, Mr Frank Irabor, said the ceremony would last for seven days, beginning on Tuesday.

The ceremony will be held in the Oba palace ground in Benin City.

Odudua rite is a ceremony used to commemorate the return of Oranmiyan, the son of Odudua, to his biological land of Benin.

The celebration is an avenue to praise God and the ancestors and the spirit of the land for the successful ascension of the Oba to the throne of his ancestor.
