“It was all about Ronaldo at Old Trafford on Saturday. Our no.7 scored twice in his comeback match as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side went on to win 4-1 over the Magpies.

United supporters were delighted to see the Portuguese forward back in the red shirt at the Theatre of Dreams. Following his incredible performance, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was voted Man of the Match by our fans. Ronaldo won the award with an incredible 85 per cent of the votes, one of the biggest winning margins in history,” the club sain a statement.

Ronaldo posted an emotional message to Manchester United supporters around the world, following his brilliant two-goal return to action at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Portuguese club legend opened the scoring against Newcastle United with an opportunistic finish from close range, after goalkeeper Freddie Woodman spilled Mason Greenwood’s shot.

Javier Manquillo equalised for the visitors after the restart, but this day belonged to Ronaldo and our iconic no.7 restored the lead with a powerful shot that flew through the legs of Woodman.

Bruno Fernandes made it 3-1 with a stunning strike from range and, deep into added time, substitute Jesse Lingard rounded off the win with an impressive effort into the far corner.

Shortly after the final whistle on Saturday, a jubilant Ronaldo used his personal Instagram account to send this message to his 340million followers around the world.

“My return to Old Trafford was just a brief reminder of why this stadium is known as the Theatre of Dreams,” he wrote.
“For me, it has always been a magical place where you can achieve everything you set your mind into.

“Along with all my team-mates and with the amazing support that we always get from the stands, we face the road ahead with confidence and optimism that we’ll all be celebrating together in the end.

“Proud to be back at Man. United and playing in the Premier League once again, but above all, happy to help the team! Let’s go, Devils!”
