Civil Defence Corps Should Protect Govt Properties Especially Public Schools to prevent vandalism – Ohens Kingsley
Opoji 25th April 2021
The need for the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) aka Civil Defence, to make tangible impact in the society has been revibrated by a concerned stakeholder.
Comrade Kingsley Ohens, the National Leader of Esan Youths Organization has reinstated the need for officers of the Civil Defence Corps to be detailed to public facilities in the state including schools to prevent vandalism, burglary and sabotage to vital public properties and documents.
Comrade Ohens made this call in Opoji while speaking to Radio Esan on the spate of insecurity in the state most especially security breech targeted at school children.
Comrade Ohens said “the Civil Defence can contribute more to security and safety of the populace if they are posted to schools and other public facilities. The Security agency ought to have a location or office in all the public schools for both day and night duties. This is the only way they can make impact in civil security”.
He called on the authorities of the Civil Defence and other regulatory agencies to make plans to have locations and beats in public schools. “This will go a long way as preventive measures to minimize cases of vandalism of public properties in which vital irreplaceable documents are lost forever”, he lamented.
Ohens further revealed that his organization will put the suggestions officially to the appropriate channels for action.
