6 injured as ambulance conveying corpse crashes in Edo
Double tragedy has struck an unidentified bereaved family in Edo state, after an ambulance conveying their deceased relative reportedly crashed into a stationed truck along the Benin-Lagos road.
Our source gathered that six persons, including mourners and members of the bereaved family sustained injuries in the crash.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 8:30am near Okada junction, Ovia North-East local government area of the state.
An eyewitness who simply identified himself as Imade said that the accident resulted in traffic jam on the expressway; adding that many Lagos-bound commuters, including other road users were left stranded for hours.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) were said to have arrived the accident scene and evacuated the victims to hospital for medical attention.
Henry Benamisia, the Edo state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) could not be reached for comment.
