The elder statesman stated this while receiving Governor Bello at the weekend, describing the Governor as a “jinx-breaker.”

His words: “My son, you are a jinx-breaker, a detribalised Nigerian who is building bridges and uniting our country already. What we need in Nigeria at the moment is for all of us to see ourselves as one.

“Your track record of achievements in your state, especially in the area of securing your people is quite commendable and Nigerians should learn from your magic.

“I love people who come into political offices and perform. You have done well. I am a progressive, so it won’t be difficult for me to support someone like you who is youthful, dynamic, fearless, a bridge-builder and a performer. I and all progressive-minded people are for you.”

Governor Bello described Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife as “a great Nigerian, a nationalist and a name identified with overflowing integrity.”

He said: “You are our leader, our role model, an unrepentant progressive, a bold and courageous leader who we always want to emulate.

“Your footprint on the sands of Nigerian history remains iconic and we look up to you to be that strong and respected voice that will carry our message of hope and redemption to the Nigerian people.

“When someone like you challenges us the youth to step up and infuse our energy and competence to the administration of our dear country, we know there is hope for our country.

“It is an honour to be with you. At 82 years old, all you still think of is a Nigerian of your dream. You are exemplary and I want to assure you, sir, that we will never disappoint your trust in us.”

Recall that some elder statesmen had earlier received and blessed Governor Yahaya Bello as more groups call on him to be the first youth to be democratically elected as the President of Nigeria.

The likes of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd) and many others have held closed-door meetings with the Kogi State Governor that many are already tipping to clinch the Presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
